FOR SCHOOLS AND GROUPS:

Arts YOUniverse 3-hour “Arts Experience” Workshops

Ideal number of people = 45

The group is separated into 3 sections, and the sections rotate, enjoying three 40-minute classes and then combining for one hour-long DANCE class together at the end – for a total of three hours of arts experience.

Rotating class choices include:

Origami                                   Paper-folding (age appropriate) into fun animal shapes

Book-making                            Personalized books made from every-day materials

Singing                                    “Dona Nobis” melody (a round) taught to students. Sometimes the lyrics are changed from the original Latin to make the song more fun to learn.  The group is introduced to principles of music and singing!

Painting                                  Introductory class using acrylic paint teaching the old masters’ technique of shading using the “red ball”.

Magic                                      Fun magic tricks teach people about “illusion” versus “reality”.

Jewelry                                   Basic jewelry-making techniques are taught

Creative Dramatics                Masks are made and stories are creatively acted out.

Rainstick-making                     Rainsticks are handmade using straight-pins, file folders, rice, and decorative coverings.

Poetry Decon/Recon              (Deconstruction/Reconstruction) A classic poem is copied in large print and distributed along with scissors and glue sticks. The words are reassembled on a piece of construction paper to make personal poems, or messages that express individual thoughts, containing only the words that were in the original poem.

DANCE                                  After the three groups have each had a chance to participate in the chosen activities, they join together as a group to discover the joy of DANCE. The physical movement bonds them at the end of the event and helps to release and express the energy of the day. Dance sampler explores ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop.

Cost $15.00 per person

Minimum 30 people.
